How Much is Too Much Cardio?
Cardio is part of an exercise regime people have been practicing for many years now and there are still a great
deal of people out there who believe there is nothing more effective than cardio activities. Losing weight is a
goal many people have and cardio is a large part of it but it is not the only part of exercise routines that work.
Because of this belief many people can take their cardio routine too far and overwork themselves to the point where
they are actually hurting their body instead of helping it. There are several warning signs you should be aware of
which can tell you when you are doing too much cardio.
Such warning signs include:
- Even the thought of exercise makes you worry and stressed
- Your entire body hurts after one day's workout
- Your resting heart rate is higher than usual
- You feel tired all the time, out of energy
- You can't sleep
- You can't keep up with your usual routine
- You hate your workout routine and would rather do anything else
These are very important warning signs to pay attention to, many people may think this is just the regular signs
of working out but working out is not meant to be a painful chore as described above. Your workouts should be light
and fun and you should not feel sick to your stomach when you realize it is time to go to the gym, this means you
are doing something wrong.
It is important to understand that moderate levels of cardio workouts are just as effective if not more so than
the intense workouts you may have been trying in the past. There is absolutely no benefit to pushing your body too
far with cardio workouts and as you can see the warning signs above are all negative in result of too much cardio.
A happy medium needs to be met in order for you to enjoy your cardio workout and for you to want to continue going
to the gym because you feel energized and happy.
For so many years people have believed working out to be this awful chore that just ruins their day, but in fact
it can be more fun than you may think. Cardio is a great aspect of exercising but it is not the only aspect. By
creating a workout routine which offers an adequate amount of cardio you are on your way to a great fat losing
system that is enjoyable and even relaxing.
If you find yourself in a circuit where you cannot stop overtraining in regards to cardio than there are
several steps which can be followed to help start up a new and moderate training system. The moment you realize you
are overtraining you need to immediately stop and take few days off to recreate a lighter exercise program. Start
with some brisk walking, a slight jog and then continue on like this but never allow yourself to be constantly
sprinting and over doing your cardio section of your exercise regime.
It can be so easy to slip into the mindset that the faster you run the more weight you are going to lose but
this is not the case. By choosing to push yourself to the limits you are not losing any more weight than if you
were to jog at a moderate rate you are simply putting stress on your joints and muscles and damaging your body in
the long run. Take the time to analyze your workout routine and make sure you are not doing too much cardio, if you
